The Vedic Age

The Vedic Age is the period when the Aryans composed the four Vedas and laid the foundations of Indian religion, society and polity. It is divided into the Early (Rigvedic) Period (1500–1000 BC) and the Later Vedic Period (1000–600 BC). Vedic literature is built up in layers, from the core hymns down to the philosophical Upanishads. Two broad categories of texts make up the corpus.

Early Vedic (Rigvedic) Society — `1500–1000 BC`
