Cloze Test

A cloze test is a passage with several numbered blanks; for each blank you pick the best word from four options. Unlike a single fill-in-the-blank, the whole passage is one connected argument — the clue for one blank often lies in the sentence before or after it. Read the passage once for the theme, then fill each blank using grammar, collocation and the flow of ideas. This chapter teaches the method, then walks through three real practice passages blank by blank.
